La famosa máscara usada por Darth Vader fue creada por Ralph McQuarrie, y en un comienzo iba a ser usada solo como parte del traje espacial, y no como un objeto diario. Sin embargo, fue una de las cosas que se volvió más popular en la película.

James Earl Jones, quien interpretó a Darth Vader en las películas IV, V y VI, pidió no aparecer en los créditos, porque consideró que sería un total fracaso y eso dañaría su carrera. Por supuesto, estaba totalmente equivocado.

La primer película estrenada, es decir, Star Wars IV, no contenía la Marcha Imperial en ninguna parte. Esta es la música que caracteriza al personaje y puede escucharse en todas las películas, menos en esa.

Los pulmones de Darth Vader estaban destruidos, y la única razón por la cual se mantuvo con vida fue por su traje que le brinda aire. Esto lo hace aún más temible, porque no conocíamos realmente su cara.

George Lucas ha dicho varias veces que tenía planeadas 9 películas desde un comienzo y sabía exactamente la historia. Sin embargo, fue recién en The Empire Strikes Back cuando Darth Vader pasó a ser el padre de Luke. Antes, Anakin iba a ser un personaje diferente y separado de este villano.

En la película Back to the Future, Marty dice que Darth Vader viene del planeta Vulcano. Esto causó el enojo de los fanáticos de Star Wars y Star Trek, después de todo ambas series eran bastante competitivas entre sí.
